From the owner ~  General description:
A 28’ Tanenui built in B.S. 1088 marine ply by the previous owner between 1988 and 1992. All original building plans are included in this sale. This boat was built exactly to plan. It has been sheathed to the waterline only. A rubbing strip has been added to the keel after strengthening with no fixings other than epoxy ensuring good ability to take the ground without damage to sheathing.

Built with epoxy, bronze ring nails fixing all 9mm marine plywood panelling and solid brass screws only where buried beneath the skin. The whole structure is epoxy coated: three clear coats, sheathing and additional three coats before painting.

Galvanised bolts through Keruing laminated beams extracted and checked during 03/04 winter layup.

Paint quality – International Toplac and Blakes – now high grade due to progressive sanding and fairing.

Rudders lashed as per Hanneke (designer) advised.

Reinforced mahogany gunwale and capping.

Keruing beams soaked in linseed oil and re-coated every 3-4 months with teak oil. Varnished mahogany tillers and tiller bar (moved aft for adjustable rig to rotate outboard).

Adapted ‘Maurice Griffiths’ type heavy hatches to fore and aft watertight compartments. (There has never been water entry).

Cabin top windows with heavy ply framing. Lewmar ventilating hatches. Curved and ribbed sliding hatches, one aft facing in starboard hull/galley, port hull admidships.

The hulls are insulated throughout to above the water line with removable panels of oak stained 4mm ply on 8mm foam

Condition: Very good as well maintained by previous and current owners (only 3).

  Comment from last owner:
I rigged for a single handed adventurer. However, it accommodates 4 persons comfortably and has cruised extensively on the Irish Sea, off Northern Ireland, the Clyde and the Western Isles of Scotland. The previous owner and builder took it through the French canals for a season in the Med. It has been the perfect platform for a young family to learn sailing, as well as a marine research vessel and exploring tidal estuaries inaccessible to other boats. It can be fast. It can withstand heavy seas.
Comment from current owner:  We used the Cat for our business. We and our clients love the boat. We had some great adventures with it. We had children steering the boat, pregnant woman on board as well as breast feeding mothers, blind dogs, amateur sailors, ... the list is long. This boat is ideal for families, individuals or a business venture. We are moving abroad and hoping for a quick sale.
