General

 
 

In 1985, the 2nd owners undertook a major refit for ocean cruising.
The hull was strengthened and the aft cabins enlarged. The boat was completely rewired and all plumbing systems replaced.
In 1991, after a 12 month cruise across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and back to U.K. more modifications were undertaken in the light of experience. She was sailed to the Med in 1994.

Hull
Fiberglass moulded by Thames Marine and fitted out by Prouts. Launched 1975
Heavy duty rubbing strakes were fitted, all hatches replaced.
All bulkheads and woodwork re-afixed to hull with epoxy and glassfibre.
Underwater areas stripped down to gelcoat in1994. No osmosis detected. Several coats of International Gelshield applied as protection.Rigging


Accommodation
Main cabin
Mostly standing headroom, comprises of 2 newly cushioned and upholstered bench seats with removable, drop leaf table. A storage unit of shelves cupboards and drawers, and a bookshelf divider on the navigation side.
Large double bed forward of main cabin area with shelves and lockers.
2 Aft cabins, (in hulls), with raised tops providing extra headroom in the style of the Snowgoose 37. They are large singles or “cosy” doubles.
Upholstery replaced 2004.

Port hull
Full size chart table with extra overhead stowage
Gas blower heater
Heads and shower room, wash basin with fresh and salt water taps, holding tank, extra bulkhead and hull strengthening.


Starboard hull
Galley. Twin, large stainless steel sinks with fresh and salt water taps; stainless steel gas hob with excellent grill; Separate high level stainless steel gas oven.
Plenty of cupboards and drawers. Well equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots and pans etc.
Fridge / Freezer forward of the galley, double lid top loading, 22ins x 15ins x 1 wine bottle deep (61 Cu Lt). 12 volt and water cooled for maximum efficiency. Very thick foam insulation.

Sailing gear
Cutter rig plus extra forestay on mini-bowsprit
Twin poles with topping lifts and fore and aft guys
Roller headsail
Jiffy reefing on the Main
External track on mast to take storm trysail
2 Self tailing Andersen sheet winches remounted for easier operation
2 Lewmar sheet winches for genoa and cruising shute.

Sails
Roller jib, Main, Storm trysail, Cruising chute - 1990. V. good condition.
Large Genoa - 1994. Excellent.
Working jib, Small jib, Staysail - Old but very useable.

Rigging
S/S rigging renewed 1990.
Chainplates and rigging screws renewed 1995

Electronics/Nav

Neco autopilot and Navico autopilot, both driving the wheel.
Navico log and echo sounder.
Aero4gen wind generator
Separate white tungsten, red and fluorescent circuits all with circuit breakers.
Engine
Replacement engine fitted in 1996. Many spares from old engine.
Twin cylinder, 25 hp Volvo inboard, driving through Volvo drive leg. The leg lifts for sailing and has horizontal movement for extra steering control.
Larger 210 Lt. (47 gall.) diesel tank built under cockpit floor for better weight distribution.

Anchoring & mooring
Main anchor - 45lb CQR on 10mm chain and anchorplait. Heavy bow roller and manual Lofrens winch.
Secondary anchor - 33 lb Bruce on 10mm chain and anchorplait, Bow roller and Simpson Lawrence Anchorman
Stern anchor - Danforth stows on pushpit. chain and anchorplait. Heavy roller and S/S Bits

Very adequate mooring ropes

 

Steering
Whitlock Mamba shaft steering, Main gearbox replaced 1994, other parts maintained and replaced as necessary.
On deck
Extra cockpit lockers
Gantry / Davits on stern takes wind generator, aerials, cockpit awning etc.
Cockpit side screens and front window screens.
Strengthened guardrails with pelican hooks.
Mast steps.
2 large anchor / fender / rope lockers on foredeck
Extra mooring cleats midships.
2 dorade ventilators
Windscoops on top hatches.
Doghouse over front of cockpit for weather protection, with mini-bimini extension which can be used when sailing in the sun or rain.

NB. This description is not intended as a total inventory. Life jackets, harnesses, small items are with the boat as a ready to go cruiser. You will see them when you come to view the boat.
Refits
First re-fit 1990
Strengthen hull panels in bows and fit extra bulkheads and buoyancy.
Foam insulation in deckhead.
Re-bond all bulkheads and most furniture to hull with epoxy resin.
Rewire all electrics via new switch panel and circuit breakers.
Improve galley, new double sink, oven, hob.
Water cooled Fridge/freezer built-in.
New plumbing throughout, including seawater circuit, Heads and holding tank.
Perspex windows and six new hatches.
After cabins altered to improve headroom.
Roller headsail reefing fitted on new forestay.
New - Jeckells Genoa on roller, Mainsail, Storm trysail, Cruising chute.
All Stays, Shrouds, and running rigging replaced.
New Andersen self-tailing sheet winches.
New mainsheet track.
Mast steps.
Dorade ventilators.
Heavy rubbing strakes.
Heavy stainless bow roller and Anchorman winch.
Midships mooring cleats.
Build doghouse, foreward cockpit.

Refit 93/94, after 20 mths. laid up ashore.
Strip and rebuild Volvo diesel engine, rewire to console.
Renew Whitlock mechanical steering mechanism.
50 gall. diesel tank in centre pod.
New lockers in Saloon, Galley, Heads and Cabin.
Strengthen anchor and sail lockers on foredeck. Make more waterproof.
Strip and overhaul mast and fittings.
Remove antifouling, treat with epoxy and gellshield.
Reinforce base of keels.
Strengthen bow and stern guardrails.
Check rudder hangings and refill rudders with foam.
Through deck fittings checked
Stern gantry to take aerials, solar panel etc.
Extra insulation fitted and cabin linings renewed.
